European donor egg program - Egg donation and embryo donation / adoption in Greece
Many couples from Australia,
the US and other countries are travelling abroad for egg donation in Europe. And there are many IVF clinics throughout Europe offering egg
and embryo donation.
Why should someone choose having egg donation in Greece - Europe?
Our clinic has more then 30 years experience in IVF with egg donation and is one of the leading egg donation clinics in Europe. Prof. Mantzavinos and his team has succeeded in 1987 delivering the 1st child in Greece born through the method of egg donation.
Egg donation is an anonymous procedure in which the donor provides oocytes to the receiving couple. Donated eggs from volunteers are fertilized with sperm from the recipients’ partner or donor sperm as required. After fertilization, the resulting embryos are transferred to the receiving patient after a period of five days.
At Embryoland we understand that egg donation is not always an easy
decision to make, or step to take.
There are many reasons why a woman
may require egg donation and different journeys that they will have
taken before reaching us, but whatever the reason, or however different
the journey may have been, here at Embryoland we know that we can support
you and help you create a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.
Egg donation ensures the best success rate for women who have:
- Early menopause or experience pre-menopause
- Repeated IVF failures
- History of miscarriages
- History of poor oocyte quality
- A hereditary disease
Egg donation treatment involves fertilizing the donor eggs with sperm from the recipient’s partner or donor and transferring the resulting embryos into the recipient’s womb. The recipient is put on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to allow her cycle to be synchronized with that of the donor and for the womb to be prepared to receive the embryos.
Is egg donation - embryo adoption / donation treatment allowed in Greece?Yes, based on the legal
the IVF treatment in Greece, donor egg programs are allowed to be offered. Therefore we have an egg donation program at Embryoland IVF Center Athens.
Short waiting list for egg donation in Greece Restrictive legislation in countries such as the Australia, UK and others means
that in the case of egg and sperm donation, there is a major shortage of
donors as there is no longer anonymity for these people. We have a two month waiting list in our clinic..
Greece there are no such anonymity issues which means that there are
plenty of donors and much shorter waiting lists for the donor egg program for our patients from abroad. This last issue is important, not only from an emotional perspective, but also from a
biological one. Anonymous egg donation and embryo adoption is guaranteed.
Egg donation success ratesWe are usually able to find a suitable donor shortly after your first appointment. We will carry out all
the necessary blood tests and scans required for your treatment in order to
minimize the number of trips you need to make.
The success rates or pregnancy rates with egg donation treatment are usually higher then
60% on the first attempt and feedback from our patients who have
received treatment here has been very positive.
