Dr Nikos Kanakas is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Managing Director of Embryoland Gynaecology and Fertility Center. He graduated in Medicine from Medical School of Athens’s University. In 1990 he completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He held a Medical Research Council Training Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at Heidelberg University Medical School (directed by Prof. Dr. Benno Runnebaum and Prof. Dr. Thomas Rabe) during which he completed a PhD in the 1990.
He is a member of the ESHRE, the European Society for Reproductive Medicine and the ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine).
Since 1991 Dr. Kanakas has specialized and received in depth training in Reproductive Medicine. In 2001 Dr. Kanakas was awarded by the Mayor of Athens, Dimitris Avramopoulos, for his scientific work related with the birth of the 2000th baby that was born with the help of the IVF Team of Dr. Kanakas. Till today Dr. Kanakas and his team have delievered more than 4.000 children.
Dr. Kanakas was the medical responsible of the leading private center for Assisted Reproduction (Euromedica). He has published numerous peer review publications and chapters on the management of IVF and male infertility. In 2007 he founded Embryoland IVF Center Athens.
Dr. Kanakas speaks fluent German and English. He lives in Athens with his wife and three children.
